Academic Quality and Accreditation Committee
The purpose of the Academic Quality and Accreditation Committee (AQAC), a subcommittee of the Academic Affairs Management Team (AAMT) is to:
- facilitate the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of institutional improvement processes by coordinating institutional planning and accreditation.
In addition to its responsibilities to MSCHE, NCATE, and other accrediting bodies for professional programs, Gallaudet also has a responsibility to prepare strategic plans and annual progress reports for the federal government under a variety of laws, most importantly the legislation that authorizes the University's annual appropriation, the Education of the Deaf Act (EDA). Gallaudet engages in a continuous planning and assessment process that involves all segments of the campus community: faculty, teachers, administrators, and staff. The AQAC functions as the central coordinating group for these activities, and it receives support and input from constituencies across the campus.
The AQAC reports to the Provost and Faculty Senate through AAMT and Senate meetings respectively. The AQAC meets between regular meetings of the AAMT.
