Dear Campus Community:

I recently returned from a 10-day trip to Europe, which included visiting the Czech Republic, England, and Italy. The purpose of the trip to Europe was to explore opportunities, and to strengthen and develop our relationship with other universities, schools, and organizations that work with and serve deaf people. Also, the intent was to exchange ideas and to strengthen Gallaudet's image in Europe. It was a very busy and full week.

I met with young people, adults, educators, students, journalists and other media, university officials, researchers, Gallaudet alumni and current students, and long-time advocates for Gallaudet and the deaf communities in those countries. I gave presentations, attended receptions, participated in meetings, and shared information about Gallaudet and the changes and developments in deaf education in America. I am really pleased to see the progress being made in Europe and I can see areas where we can continue to collaborate, share, and support each other.
