Working in a highly interactive environment, participants will gain hands-on experience in how non profits, state agencies, and others can develop successful applications for federal, state and private funding.  Each participant will leave the course with a completed grant ready for submission.

Topics will include:
* Dos and Don’ts of proposal writing
* Importance of building relationships with funders
* Researching funding opportunities
* Creating a needs statement
* Defining goals and objective
* Developing an evaluation plan
* Establishing an action plan
* Preparing a budget
* Tailoring proposals to specific audiences
* Keeping track of grant requests

Tuition: $555 (3 PST credits); $1,989 (3 graduate credits)

Prerequisites: BA/BS degree if taken for graduate credit.

Class Format: All assignments, discussions, group activities and other forms of participation will be conducted online. In addition to being able to meet deadlines for assignments, ongoing communication and participation are essential to this course.  Please note: Since some of the lectures will be presented in ASL using video clips, students are expected to be able to view an online video clip in order to successfully complete this course. A PC with a high-speed connection (DSL, cable modem, or LAN) is required.

Course Materials: The Foundation Center’s Guide to Proposal Writing, Geever, Jane, (2004). The Foundation Center’s Guide to Winning Proposals, Collins, Sarah, (2003). Both textbooks are available at www.fdncenter.org.
