MSSD presents Fall Showcase

Date and Time:
6  November - 7  November, 2009
7:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Location:
Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) - Theatre Malz

Description:

The MSSD Fall Showcase features an original work in mime, Letters to Grandma, written by Jason Stewart, directed by Stewart and MSSD student MeiLi Robbins, and performed by a cast of 11 MSSD students.

For the showcase, Stewart, coordinator of performing arts at MSSD, brings back the mime character he created called "Junior." The story of Letters to Grandma unfolds from Junior's viewpoint. His love for his grandma compels him to write her letters telling her tales of his love and mishaps in a humorous way. Junior invites the audience to share in his adventures of growing up and growing old.

"Mime is perhaps one of the most difficult performances to give in the sense that it requires facial expressions and physical movements to convey emotions, action, and storytelling for audiences to fully comprehend," said Stewart. "It's a perfect way to introduce an audience to a visual sense of theater. We hope the show will be a pleasurable experience for audiences of all ages. Come watch, and get lost in, the captivating actions of miming!"

All performances are open to the public. They will take place in MSSD's Theatre Malz.
