Special M.A. degree programs are provided, at the discretion of the department, for full-time or part-time students who do not wish to pursue the standard teacher preparation curriculum. These programs are designed in consultation with the individual student and do not lead to teacher certification or licensure. For a master's degree, the student must satisfy general admission requirements of the Graduate School and the Department of Education, complete the individually planned program, and fulfill all Graduate School degree requirements as listed in this catalog. In addition, a Gallaudet University American Sign Language Proficiency Interview rating of 2+ or above is required prior to being advanced to candidacy.
