SHORT BIOGRAPHY Pat Hulsebosch has worked in the field of teaching, and teacher education for 33 years. She has taught preschool through eighth grade in public and private schools in Florida, and was the Curriculum Coordinator for Centerview Therapeutic School, a residential school in Illinois for Deaf students with multiple disabilities. Before coming to Gallaudet, Pat taught in and directed the undergraduate elementary teacher education program at Chicago's National-Louis University. There, she also directed the doctoral program in Curriculum and Social Inquiry. Pat's teaching, activism, and research center around the role of culture in teaching and learning, equity in education, and family-school-community relationships. She was recently section editor for the Handbook of Social Justice in Education. Currently, Pat provides leadership for continuing institutional improvement through critical inquiry and evidence-based decision making. She works also with campus stake-holders to ensure that the institution can demonstrate that it is addressing its mission and the meeting the standards of higher education.
