SHORT BIOGRAPHY Ms. Kruse-McConville joins the faculty of the Department of Education after teaching deaf and hard of hearing elementary students for six years in the Fairfax County (Virginia) school system. She has a wealth of teaching experience in two-and four-year college settings as well, and has worked in the non-profit sector in her native Iowa. Her expertise is in teaching diverse learners, including students with intellectual disabilities, students with Asperger’s Syndrome and autism, and students who are gifted and talented. She received her associate of applied science degree in medical laboratory technology from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology, a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Gallaudet in 2001, and a master’s degree in deaf education, also from Gallaudet, in 2002. She is working on her PhD degree (Exceptional Student Education) via online with Northcentral University, Arizona.
