SHORT BIOGRAPHY Teresa Blankmeyer Burke, MA, PhD Cand., is a philosopher and bioethicist. Her research areas include ethical theory, applied ethics, and bioethics. Ms. Burke has worked in the field of bioethics since 1986; her experience includes working with grassroots advocacy and community organizations, training medical and allied medical professionals and students, and serving on institutional ethics committees. Ms. Burke presents frequently at international and national conferences and has published in Deaf studies, applied ethics, and philosophy journals. She is currently working with an international team of scholars and researchers on an interdisciplinary collaborative project titled "What Sorts of People Should There Be?" that examines human variation, normalcy, and enhancement in the context of the humanities, biotechnology, and the social and health sciences. In addition to her work in bioethics, her applied ethics research interests also include military ethics, intelligence ethics, and interpreting ethics.
