SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Margery Miller is currently a tenured Professor of Psychology and Dean for Enrollment Management at Gallaudet University. She also served as the Director of the Psychology Program and the Coordinator of the Psychology Internship Program for undergraduate students at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. in the Department of Psychology. She has taught undergraduate and graduate classes and was the Founding Faculty Advisor for the Gallaudet University Chapter of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society of Psychology. She is also a licensed psychologist (MD), nationally certified school psychologist (NASP: NCSP), nationally certified speech and language pathologist (CCC: ASHA), and licensed speech and language pathologist in Maryland.

Dr. Miller has held various positions including the Director of the Counseling and Development Center, Director of the Family Learning Vacation Programs and of the Family Life Program, and Acting Director of the National Academy, all at Gallaudet University's College of Continuing Education. Additionally she has worked at various agencies, universities, and school programs as a teacher, speech and language therapist, school psychologist, professor, clinical supervisor, and community consultant, as well as working as a psychologist and life/executive "coach".

Dr. Miller received her Ph.D. in Psychology from Georgetown University, Master's degrees in School Psychology (Towson State University), Education Administration (State University of NY at Albany), and Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology (N.Y.U.). She received her B.A. from Elmira College (formerly Elmira College for Women).

Dr. Miller has written articles and book chapters related to a variety of issues concerning the lives of Deaf individuals, concentrating on language, communication, conceptualization, and social-emotional issues. Dr. Miller's research focuses on sign adapted assessment techniques; literacy and bilingualism; information processing; gender bias; the relationship between language and intelligence for Deaf children and adolescents; parent, sibling, and extended family issues; as well as learning delivery systems including online and distance education.. She has given numerous presentations throughout the United States and abroad.
