SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Barbara White has been a member of the Gallaudet University faculty since 1983, where she has taught required and elective courses in both the undergraduate and graduate program, chaired the Department, and served on community boards and university committees. Dr. White is a licensed clinical social worker and in her former position at Family Service Foundation in Maryland, was instrumental in establishing state-wide mental health services for deaf and hard of hearing people. Her research interests include foster care and adoption of deaf children, macro social work, international social work, disaster relief, and mental health services to deaf and hard of hearing people. She has developed courses in adoptive families, global health and mental health, and global human rights and social justice. Dr. White has led study abroad courses to Guatemala (2005, 2006) and Costa Rica (2009) http://admissions.gallaudet.edu/studytour
