Registration Information
- Matriculated undergraduate and graduate Gallaudet students (currently enrolled degree seeking) - You MUST register through the Registrar's Office for your undergraduate or graduate courses using the same procedure that you use for Fall and Spring course registration. Do not use Summer Programs application forms unless registering for PST classes. Full payment MUST be made to Student Accounts by May 19, 2008, if you do not have VR/Employer-paid tuition. If your tuition will be paid by VR or your employer, the appropriate paperwork must be sent to the Office of Student Financial Services prior to the beginning of business registration.
- Gallaudet students on Leave of Absence (LOA) - Contact the Registrar's Office for registration information at (202) 651-5393 (tty/v).
- Gallaudet alumni - You must register through Summer Programs and use the application forms provided. Payment in full is required to register for a summer course. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
- Gallaudet faculty and staff - Unless you are a matriculated student, you will register through Summer Programs. If using a Tuition Waiver, make sure that it accompanies your application. The Tuition Waiver does not exclude you from paying the application, unit and material fees.
- Consortium students - Students registering for courses through the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan area do so through their home institution and pay that institution's tuition fees.
- Other non-degree-seeking students (visiting/exchange/special) - You must register through Summer Programs using the application forms provided. Full payment, which may include a purchase order or VR authorization, is required to register for a summer course. Incomplete applications will not be processed.

HOW TO REGISTER
All students, with the exception of matriculated undergraduate or graduate Gallaudet students (degree seeking), must use the Summer Program's application forms as provided. If you are a current Gallaudet undergraduate or graduate student in a degree program, you will register for your undergraduate or graduate classes through the Registrar's Office but register for any PST classes through Summer Programs.
- Complete the Guest Housing/Meal Plan Application if you are planning to stay on-campus.
- Complete the ASL questionnaire form if you are taking an ASL class.
- Complete the VISA Information Form if you are an international applicant.
- Complete the Medical History Form and return it to Gallaudet University's Student Health Services prior to your arrival on campus if you are a new student to Gallaudet.
- Complete the Payment Form and make sure to include full payment with your application. Payments may be made by check, credit card (MasterCard or VISA) or money order. If your tuition will be paid by VR or your employer, the appropriate paperwork must accompany your application along with instructions as to how Summer Programs is to bill the authorizing agent.
- Mail your forms to the address provided on the application or fax it to (202) 651-5987.
ENROLLMENT CONFIRMATION
You will receive confirmation of your enrollment by mail approximately two weeks after your application is received. If you do not receive a confirmation letter, contact us as summer@gallaudet.edu or call (202) 448-6992.
COURSE CANCELLATION
Gallaudet University reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment. Course cancellation decisions will be made approximately two weeks before the first day of class. Please provide us with a day time phone number or valid email address; we will contact you to make alternative course selections should your class be cancelled. We recommend that you NOT make travel arrangements until you receive confirmation regarding your enrollment.
TRANSFERRING CREDITS
If you wish to transfer your summer credits to your home institution, it is your responsibility to obtain approval from your school to ensure that they are accepted.
GRADES/TRANSCRIPTS
Grades are issued approximately three weeks after the last day of summer school. No grades will be issued to students who owe a balance. Students may obtain a transcript of their academic record from the Registrar's Office for a nominal fee. Please contact the Registrar's Office directly at (202) 651-5393 (tty/v), or submit an online request at http://www.gallaudet.edu/x4469.xml.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
International students are welcome to apply to summer school. Please contact summer@gallaudet.edu if you are planning to attend Gallaudet University during summer 2008 so we can be prepared for your application. International students are required to complete the VISA informationform. Due to the time constraints in processing I-20's or DS-2019's, applications from international students must be received in our office by May 2, 2008. Please note that tuition for international students (including Canadians) is higher than that for U.S. citizens. Important: Payment must be sent in full (international money order payable to Gallaudet University) before the I-20 or DS-2019 can be processed.If you have a green card, you must submit a copy with yourapplication. A B-1/B-2 visitor visa or a visa waiver does not authorize the international visitor to attend school or audit classes. Only individuals arriving at Gallaudet University with the proper student visa will beallowed to attend classes and/or stay on the Gallaudet campus.
PAYMENT PROCEDURES
Full payment MUST accompany the completed application form. Applications without payment in full will not be processed. Check your calculations prior to submittal. Payment may be made by check, creditcard (VISA and MasterCard) or money order.
VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION (VR) /EMPLOYER-PAIDTUITION
If your tuition will be paid by VR or your employer, the appropriate paperwork must accompany your application. Complete instructions asto how our office is to bill the authorizing agent must also be included.
CONSORTIUM STUDENTS
Students registering for courses through the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan area do so through their home institution and pay that institution's tuition fees. All classes held on campus will be conducted in American Sign Language unlessotherwise specified in the course description.
• Register through the consortium office at your home institution. Once your cross-registration has been approved, you will also need to complete the application/course registration, and ASL/Interpreting questionnaire forms (applicable). These forms are to be submitted to your consortium coordinator.
• Your home institution will then send a copy of your consortium card and registration forms to our Registrar's Office.
• Upon receipt and approval of your application, you will receive a confirmation letter. If you do not receive a letter inresponse to your application, contact the College of Professional Studies and Outreach at 202.448.7272 (tty/v), 202.651.5987 (fax), or summer@gallaudet.edu.
WAIVERS
For Gallaudet faculty, staff and qualified family members: Please note that a tuition waiver does not exclude you from paying the application, unit, and material fees. The waiver covers only tuition and is not applicable for non-credit courses of a recreational or leisure activity.
PROCESSING FEE
All students registering through Summer Programs are required to pay this non-refundable fee. Students registering for graduate or undergraduate classes pay $50. All other students pay $30. This fee is waived for undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in degree programs who register for PST classes.
MATERIALS/CEU FEE
Costs vary - only applicable when noted in the course description.
FINANCIAL AID
Financial aid is only available for matriculated students who are enrolled full-time at Gallaudet
UNIT FEE
The Unit Fee covers student activities, use of the library, shuttle bus, technical support and all recreation facilities. This fee of $5/week is required by all students.
LATE APPLICATION FEE
A $50 late fee must be included in all applications postmarked after the application deadline. You should plan on mailing your application with plenty of time to allow for postal delay. Availability of housing is not guaranteed for late applicants.
REFUND POLICY
Written notification is required for all drops or withdrawals, otherwise no refund will be permitted. Refunds take approximately four weeks to process after summer school officially ends.
- If a course is cancelled by the University, a full refund will be issued automatically.
- If you drop/withdraw prior to the registration deadline (2 weeks prior to the start of a class), 100% refund on tuition will be issued. There is no refund of processing fees.
- After the registration deadline, there will be NO refunds.
ADDING OR DROPPING COURSES
To add or drop a course at Gallaudet after registration, complete an add/drop form. Click here to access the form. There is a $5 fee for each add or drop transaction. Gallaudet matriculated undergraduate or graduate students must go through the Registrar's Office to add or drop classes. Failure to formally drop a course will result in a final grade of F. No changes may be made after the first day of class.
WITHDRAWING FROM COURSES
To withdraw from a course (either before or after you have arrived at Gallaudet), submit your request in writing or complete a Withdrawal Form (Gallaudet matriculated undergraduate or graduate students must contact the Registrar's Office directly). Click here to access the form. A phone call alone is not sufficient and a student is not considered officially withdrawn until a written request has been received. Students registering through CPSO's Summer Programs may withdraw from a course up until the last day of class. You may email your withdrawal to summer@gallaudet.edu or fax it to (202) 448-6933
