Registration Information SWK 795/PST876 Global Health and Mental Health in Deaf communities (3 credits)

PST 880, Health Education and Deaf People (1 credit) This course is designed for students who are interested in issues related to health care in the Deaf community. Application of knowledge and skills in dual areas of psychosocial and health care issues are addressed. Special attention will be given to cancer education, particularly breast cancer, testicular cancer, and prostate cancer. This course combines community service with workshop preparation, discussions with healthcare providers, deaf consumers, and personal reflection. This course is unique in that it provides opportunities for medical students and students in the fields of science and mental health to learn from each other. Opportunities for grant writing development are available within this course. Enrollment is limited and permission of the instructor is required for enrollment.
